As I have stated before, the Council needs to address the officer deficit the city currently faces to aid in lowering crime rates and increasing public safety. The Real Estate Council’s endorsement of my campaign is another indicator of success. With over $2B in new tax base in District 14 on just the projects that I had to work on, I’d say that the collaborative approach has been a success.

Our greatest asset is the diversity that D14 includes. I championed the latest 9% proposal from Matthews Southwest to be built next to Crozier Tech specifically because I understand that the future of urban affordable housing is mixed-income development and mixed-income neighborhoods. We should be promoting the building of smaller homes in areas where the final cost of housing meets the level of working class wages. I propose that Dallas should become not a model of a second-tier sprawl zone, but a leader in serving its residents as we all learn to live together in a city that has barely been imagined yet. In the meantime, our neighborhoods have been disinvested, and we have become the most segregated large city in America.
